Linkin Park closed this year's Rock'n Coke festival in Istanbul Sunday night, wrapping up two days of reveling under the sun and the stars at the vast greenery of the Istanbul Park Formula 1 race track area. Linkin Park was the highlight of the fest's final night, staying on the main stage for almost two hours, blaring such modern rock anthems as “In The End,” “New Divide” and “One Step Closer” to a cheering crowd of tens of thousands, which the band saluted by waving a Turkish flag onstage. Thanks LPtimes

Mike talks about his new DC shoes which is available for purchase here, all proceeds will go to Michael K. Shinoda Endowed Scholarship.
"We got an incredible response to the Xander Remix, a shoe I designed last year," says Shinoda. "I felt that a 'summer version' would be exciting; it's new, with lighter colors and patterns, but retains the comfort and durability of the last shoe. I wanted them to be worn every day yet still look and feel great, so I tested them personally. I wore them while on tour, in countries all around the world and they performed great.""As a kid, I used to fold paper samurai helmets as part of the tradition for Japanese Boys' Day, a national Japanese holiday that falls in early May and celebrates children," he says. "It's kinda funny that the holiday coincides with the release of the shoe, which has origami-inspired patterns."

A word from Mike Shinoda
05/12/09
Mike gave a speech at the commencement of Art Center College of Design last month. We've seen the video of his speech now blogger Martin Yan has written a report on the event and share his thoughts on Mike's speech.
But we were all in for a surprise treat. A former graduate was invited to accept a special honorary award and was slated to give the keynote speech. As I scanned through the program, I discovered that the guest speaker was, to my delight, none other than Mike Shinoda. Ialways knew him as the guy from Linkin Park. The happa dude who spat some dope lines and balanced out all the unbridled screaming from the white dude with glasses. Mike Shinoda, the rapper and rock star. But on this day, I learned about Mike Shinoda, the graphic designer, the artist, and father. More importantly, I learned about the man who wrestled and struggled and persevered in order to succeed. Full report. Thanks LPtimes

Studio update: still making progress on the new album. Still working on that one song, too, ha. Things are going well. I thought I'd put up a few pictures of the guys for you to see. Glorious Excess Dies coming in 2009

Chances are starting to look good that the second (and final) part of my GLORIOUS EXCESS art show will open to the Los Angeles public in the later part of this year. Although dates have not been officially confirmed, the art is coming together nicely. This show follows the story of our anti-hero as he overdoses on celebrity, overdoses on himself, and carves a path to superstar martyrdom. The official announcement and info will be posted here on mikeshinoda.com, of course. As usual, proceeds will go to charity (Music For Relief, Michael K. Linkin Park in the studio
03/28/09
Mike has updated his blog with a photo of Rob in the studio and an update on the recording of Linkin Park's new album
We've been working on a new song in the past couple of weeks that has been a lot of fun. The backdrop for the song is built on layered, heavy synths and a sharp performance by Mr. Bourdon. We're keeping the drums a little looser on this track, not doing too much studio trickery...it creates a nice interplay between the organic feel of the rhythm track and the more robotic feel of the keyboards. Bass and guitar are next, meanwhile Chester and I are emailing lyric notes back and forth...Thanks LPtimes

Eric Lewis talks about Linkin Park
03/22/09
Ted.com has an interview with jazz pianist Eric Lewis who recently said that when he first listened to Linkin Park, Chester's scream reminds him of John Coltrane. He also said that Linkin Park made him think of Miles Davis and Elvin Jones and Puccini.
I spent a period of time really despondent and upset with trying to fight through it all, and finally I managed to get my technique to a different level. I was listening one day to a record by Linkin Park called Meteora. It was the first time that I had ever purchased a rock record. Prior to that time, I was very much a jazz purist, and that's why I had gone so far in the jazz world. However, that purism didn't work for me. So then I finally broke that habit and checked out Linkin Park on the recommendation of some people who heard me describing something that I wanted to do in music. And it really opened me up.I heard the song "Somewhere I Belong," and to hear Chester Bennington scream reminded me of Coltrane howling and wailing on the saxophone, and the harmonies they were using reminded me of Miles Davis, and reminded me of Puccini. And then the power of the drums reminded me of Elvin Jones. And the clarity of the bass reminded me of the power of the orchestra. Full interview.

Danny Cocke talks about working with Mike
03/22/09
Sacramenton's local composer, Danny Cocke talks about meeting and working with Mike.
What’s the story behind your work with Mike Shinoda? Thanks LPtimes
Simplistic [Cocke’s former band] made a four-song demo in September [2000]. It was the first time in a real studio, and we just went and played. We didn’t know what the hell was going on—totally newbie kids. We made this demo, and Nick [bassist and vocalist] went to a Linkin Park concert and gave the demo to Mike—they would all come out and talk to the kids. And Mike called us two weeks later and said, “I really like your band; I want to meet you guys.” So we went up to Yuba City when they were playing Ozzfest. And he’s like, “I really like your guys’ stuff. I either want to sign you guys or get you guys signed.” Full interview.

Mike & Kenna's new collaboration
03/04//09
Mark reports that Kenna will be working with Mike on a new EP entitled "MSTSMF Outtakes"
RJ: What can fans expect to hear on Sounds for Flight? Thanks LPtimes
K: The unexpected. It’s nothing like anything anyone has heard before. I’ve already started that as well — I’m two songs in. So that album is definitely going to be an interesting departure. I might actually put one more EP out before those Atlanta Air Chronicles, but I’m not sure yet. I’m just deciding right now. One that’s a Make Sure They See My Face revisited that kind of has songs that didn’t make the record, and the Cool Kids version of “Loose Wires” and an addendum to “Loose Wires,” and the “Black Goodbye Ride” song that I did with Questlove and something I did with Mike Shinoda, and something I did with James Valentine from Maroon 5. We’ll see. I’m in the middle of it right now. Full interview.

So what can fans expect from the Hill's upcoming release? "Tommy Morello is on the album, and he brings his incredible vibe to a song whose name I can't remember right now," says B. "We also did a track with Pete Rock, and I've been waiting years to work with that guy. The guy is a legend. Plus, Mike Shinoda is also on there, and he's also incredible. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by this album, which will hopefully be out later in the year."Thanks LPtimes
Interview with Julien-K / Questions for Julien-K
02/26/09
OC Register has an interview with Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh where they talk about Julien-K and their upcoming album, "Death To Analog", the article also mention that Julien-K and Chester's Dead By Sunrise plan to tour together.
But music is where Shuck's head is at now – and it's filled. Julien-K's album drops in just a few weeks, yet Shuck and Derakh have also had a hand in shaping the debut from Dead by Sunrise, a side project from Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. That disc will be out this summer – at which point the two groups, who share several members, plan on touring together, definitely with an O.C. stop on the itinerary."It's an unconventional way of doing things for sure," Shuck says. "It would be like if Tool and A Perfect Circle toured together." Full interview.
Muen magazine also an interview with the duo where they talked a little bit about working on Dead By Sunrise album and the 'Kick The Bass' video.
MUEN: We heard from The Delta Fiasco on interviewing them that they have utilized your home and studio Ryan for recording. Is that where most of your work was done on this CD?Ryan: Yes. That’s where most of Dead by Sunrise, that’s were Julien-K, that’s where The Delta Fiasco, the Transformers “Revenge of the Fallen” was created. All of it is created at either mine or Amir’s studio. We live close to each other and have pretty decked out studios in our homes that are exact duplicates that are real live studios and not just a converted bedroom. We work so fucking much that I don’t know how we would do it if they were not in our houses. At some point maybe we will move them somewhere but right now it works to have ..Brandon.. working on some music and Chester up in L.A. tracking vocals and then returning here to work on combining them and writing more for Dead by Sunrise. Amir’s house is set up for programming and mixing and mine is set up for a lot of people to be there but the gear is the same and redundant. My house has no privacy mainly and is ground central or ground zero for all these bands to do these songs and say that shit will be on the radio next year so that is cool.
MUEN: Noticed there is no bass player in the live line-up so, other than those listed as “official” band members, who all have contributed to the writing and recording of the songs?
Ryan: Chester and Fu mostly but there are some other people. We both have friends that play on the record in some capacity.
Amir: I actually co-wrote a couple of songs with my cousin. Scott Cutler also wrote some things too. We purposely don’t have a bass player in the band. That is how it’s meant to be. What we are doing in Dead by Sunrise is the more typical lineup with Brandon playing bass and Fu playing keyboards. We really wanted to blur the line in this band and have the computer running that (the bass) in Julien-K. The bass is really important and so we use the technology to make it more prominent and different. Full interview.
Speaking of Julien-K, Felipe will be interviewing Julien-K and he's collecting questions from fans that will be submitted on Monday, March 2, so if you have any question please send it to felipe_intheend@yahoo.com.br

This is definitely one of the big ones," he said of the venue which has hosted massive shows from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Oasis. "You have to work on earning the respect of the fans in the UK," he added. "I would say the experiences over the years playing festivals over there, the audiences actually get better and better each time."I think it will be amazing to come out and play this festival. Obviously we're huge fans of Metallica as well. We’ve had the pleasure of playing with them on a number of occasions. We get on really well with Metallica and its so much fun to play with Metallica."
The singer hinted that Sonisphere might see the band debut some all-new material. "I can't promise because we're still writing," said Bennington, "but I'm going to put it out there that you might hear some new stuff from us."

Mike talks Dead By Sunrise
02/03/09
Mike has updated his blog with his thoughts on Chester's debut album with Dead By Sunrise, he has heard 9 songs and has this to say about the album
I was just hanging out with Chester, and got a chance to hear some of his new solo material! In case you haven't heard, he's doing a solo record (he's doing double-duty, working on his album and the LP album simultaneously). The project is called Dead By Sunrise, and the album is being produced by Howard Benson. He played me 9 songs, two of which had (amazing) vocals. I thought I could hear influences from T-Rex to Tears For Fears, but overall it's a pretty punch-you-in-the-gut rock record. Very cool...look for it later this year, probably September-ish. It's going to be incredible! Thanks LPtimes

Review of R2R and SFTU
01/07/09
Altsounds has posted a review of the Road To Revolution DVD/CD and Songs From The Underground CD
Road To Revolution
The quality is as you would expect; pretty high, but it has got a very live feel to it. Some live releases are very over produced and sound almost studio like, but 'Road to Revolution' gives you a real sense of space and makes you feel the expanse of the arena. The inclusion of two Jay Z collaborations on the DVD ensure that there is a full spectrum of material, ranging from heavier, new metal numbers, slower ballads to rap rock at its finest. The newer material is not as good as the classics but it works better on a live format than on a physical release. Tracks like 'Bleed It Out' have such a larger impact with the live audience interaction. Full review.Songs From The Underground
Track seven is a little ballad entitled "My December", which is again taken from their live shows in 2008. The track features only vocals and piano. Having seen Linkin Park live a few times I feel that a lot of their tracks sound better when performed in this format, as Chester and Mike manage to create a great amount of power between them. Full review.

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!
12/31/08
I just wanna wish everyone a Happy New Year, thanks for visiting LPT and all the support all these years. Thanks for all the emails and kind words, I really appreciate it [group hug]. Tough times ahead because of the economic crisis so let's hope we will have a good 2009. As regards to Linkin Park, lots to look forward to in 2009, there's the new album coming out, new music videos, new interviews, promos, tv appearances, live shows, tours, etc. Then there's Chester's Dead By Sunrise debut album and Mike's second installment of Glorious Excess art show, so, another busy year for me :-) but I'm looking forward to all that.
Summer movies to look forward to are Terminator Salvation, Angels & Demons, Star Trek, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, 2012, Ice Age 3, Up and of course the mother of all summer movies, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (good or bad it's gonna rake in lots of $$$, cha ching!) Hope 2009 summer movies will be better than 2008's which only look good in trailers.
In the music world, look out for Guitar Hero: Metallica, watch trailer, yeah! \m/. Coming out in March is Pearl Jam's re-issue of their Ten album which will have 4 different editions, it's gonna be hard to choose but I am sooo gonna get it. Did I also mention that the album will be playable in its entirety on Rock Band 2? word \m/.
I'm sure there are plenty to look forward to but these are on top of my list. So, here's to 2009, I wish everyone good luck, good fortune, good grades, good relationship, good jobs and above all good health.

Even though I really enjoyed making my custom sneakers with DC this year, my favourite was a super-limited one done by a friend. Joe Hahn and I were in Singapore on tour and we went into this store on Haji Lane. We started talking to the guys in the store, and SBTG s name came up. The guys we were talking to said, Mark? Do you want to meet him? The SBTG office happened to be practically next door. We ve kept in touch with Mark since then, and he hit me up with these beauties. One of eight pairs and completely hand painted. Even though I m not really wearing AF1 s that much right now, I love these.

Road To Revolution review
12/22/08
Another good review of the Road To Revolution CD/DVD.
Nobody does Nu-metal like Linkin Park and the new live album Road to Revolution captures the rockers at their best in Milton Keynes. Now most bands are credited for thier quality in the studio but often they can t cut it when it comes to the live act. Linkin Park ,however, seem to take it in their stride with confidence. Fans also seemed to find One Step Closer a real treat with classic aggression from lead singer Chester and it is easy to imagine his neck going purple when listening to this hit. The album manages to pump out 37 tracks in total over two disks and this causes one problem with the record. As soon as you start listening it is almost to hard to stop so you ll find your time will pass away quickly but it is well worth it. Full review.LPtimes

LPtimes No more LP music video at YouTube?
12/20/08
Warner Music Group's videos began disappearing from YouTube this weekend, the casualty of a contract impasse between the music company and the Internet's dominant video site. Negotiations broke down last week over licensing fees for Warner's music and videos, say people familiar with the discussions, who were not authorized to speak publicly. YouTube alerted its audience of the collapse in talks on its company blog, in which it noted that professionally produced music videos and those that fans create using Warner songs would begin to disappear. It remains unclear whether YouTube or Warner decided to pull the plug. Full report.
The statement from YouTube
That said, despite our constant efforts, it isn't always possible to maintain these innovative agreements. Sometimes, if we can't reach acceptable business terms, we must part ways with successful partners. For example, you may notice videos that contain music owned by Warner Music Group being blocked from the site. Don't worry - if you receive a takedown notification, you will have a couple of options to choose from in order to keep your original video creations up.We understand this might be frustrating for some of you, and we're sorry about that. Our ultimate goal is to treat everyone fairly: to respect the rights of musicians, songwriters, and their biggest fans, so that everyone can continue enjoying original content on YouTube. Full statement.
Video: Interview with Mike & Rob on Artisan News
12/19/08
Artisan News has another clip of Mike talking about the Milton Keynes show, download here.
"As far as doing this show with Jay in England I'm going to be completely self-serving -- and I think Jay would have a good laugh if he ever sees this -- but he opened for us, just to be really clear about that. That to me, that's always a fun fact to throw out there for my friends. Living in the U.S. we're both multi-platinum artists. That's in the U.S. though. You start to go to other territories, and it's a different story. Just like with any band. There are some areas where we're in Germany, and some band you've never heard of, we open for them there because we do really well in Germany but they've been there for ten, fifteen years. It was exciting for me, personally, when I was able to call my friends and be like (in a fake conceited voice), 'Yeah, you know Jay's opening for us in Milton Keynes, you know, because we're just so huge.' (Laughs at self). I can laugh about these things because I don't take our band too... I take our music seriously to the degree that I put a lot of effort into it, and all of us do, and it's important to us, but as far as the stature, celebrity of our band, like, 'whatever.'"LPtimes
Producing a new Cypress Hill song
12/17/08
Mike has updated his blog with news about the song he had produced for Cypress Hill.
Fast forwarding to today, I recently got word back from B-Real, Sen, and their management: a track I did for them is going to be on their next record. I didn't do a verse on it, just music / production. It's a slightly darker, laid-back track, but has a great vibe. I wanted to get back to the mood from their first three albums, without trying to sound like Muggs (not that I could, that dude has made some classics). I made a track from guitar, bass, mellotron, and drums (and even played a little harmonica) to give it a vintage sound, then sampled my own performance. It sounds like I sampled it off of vinyl, but it's actually all original music. Pretty fun. Anyway, it's probably going to be a while before their new record comes out, but I figure I'd give you the early heads-up here.LPtimes

Review: Camp Freddy at The Roxy
12/10/08
Artist Direct has a review of Camp Freddy's concert at The Roxy in West Hollywood last night. Watch video clips here. Mike has some photos up on his blog.
Next came a true clash of the titans. Bassist Chris Chaney began churning out the slow, ominous roll at the beginning of Jane's Addiction's "Mountain Song," and suddenly Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington took to the stage. A torrent of energy spread through the building, and everything erupted. Watching Chester with Camp Freddy is like bridging the generational gap. Chester showcased a vocal prowess and style that matched the legends beside him. He can hold his own alongside former Guns N' Roses and Jane's Addiction members, fitting right in. In fact, his presence caused a surge, as he simply killed the song's chorus. At the same time, Navarro conjured Hendrix on the solo and unleashed his best lead of the evening. Their chemistry was palpable and infectious. However, it got better. Slash stormed the stage during Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love." He oscillated between strange toggle switch schizophrenia and mind-blowing fretwork. Slash simply bled soul all over the stage, as he and Chester brought the show to rapturous heights. Sorum nailed the drum break, injecting it with a tribal flair. As Slash tore through "Paradise City" with Chester singing, it was hard to believe Camp Freddy could top this. However, there's no doubt they will—probably next week.

Video: Road To Revolution - Given Up Road To Revolution review
LP are the most prolific band to emerge under the nu-metal banner and they've done a grand job of progressing their sound, even if they did take long breaks between each record. If you're a fan of this sound, you'll probably be planning to buy the record already, but if you're on the fence then I can personally encourage you to get hold of this release as it showcases some great talent. Road To Revolution review
11/27/08
A review of Road To Revolution live CD from Altsound.
'Leave Out All The Rest' is performed well live with Chester Bennington's vocals being almost tuned to perfection throught the entire track, which is something difficult to do live. Although, after seeing Linkin Park live at Download in 2007, I know just how outstanding they are. Overall 'Road to Revolution' is exactly what I would expect from Linkin Park, who, when I saw them, provided one of the best live gigs I have ever been to, and I am sure that other people would agree with that. Full review. Thanks LPtimes
Hidden content in Road To Revolution DVD
11/26/08
Read a blogger's review of the Road To Revolution DVD/CD where he also mentions the hidden content in the DVD.
After watching the dvd entirely and letting the credits roll, a menu came up saying, “Thanks for watching. You have unlocked new content!” Three more songs - Somewhere I Belong, Papercut (arguably my #1 LP song), and Points of Authority. It’s like Sam Jackson appearing as Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man. Pretty sweet. Thanks LPtimes
Linkin Park looking forward to Thanksgiving at home
11/26/08
Rob talks about Linkin Park celebrating Thanksgiving in Japan last year.
With Thanksgiving coming up on Thursday (November 27th), the members of Linkin Park say they're thankful just to be home for the holiday. Last year at this time, the band was on the road and drummer Rob Bourdon told us he's glad the situation is different this time: "We're excited to be home to see our families and hang out with friends and all that, 'cause last Thanksgiving we were in Japan. Our agent had booked a show and we ended up having Thanksgiving at Roy's in Japan, and the chefs there were kind enough to kind of throw together the best version of Thanksgiving dinner that they could. Some of the stuff they nailed, but some of the stuff was just not quite what you get at home."Thanks LPtimes

Road To Revolution review
11/25/08
A nice review of Road To Revolution DVD/CD from Artist Direct.
Road to Revolution is a live record packs the punch of a Linkin Park show, without the stench and sweat. On an eight-minute jam for "Bleed It Out" all hell breaks loose, and the song illuminates everything great about Linkin Park. Cranked up, these songs kill. Linkin Park deserve to continue their reign on the road and the charts. Full reviewThanks LPtimes
Linkin Park Surpasses 4 Million On iLike
11/25/08
Linkin Park became the first group to surpass 4,000,000 fans on iLike, here's a message from Mike.
Most of you probably already know iLike, the music-based social network, from your experiences on Facebook. Over the weekend, Linkin Park became the first group to surpass 4,000,000 fans on iLike. This is the largest number of fans that have gathered together in support of one artist on a single social platform. Earlier this year, our Linkin Park widget (seen at the bottom of my main blog page) crossed the "100 Million Views" threshold. Now, with the success on iLike, I wanted to take another second to say "thank you" to all of you that support the band and enjoy the music. My band and the people at iLike are thrilled about this amazing achievement. We will be hopefully announcing a special event to celebrate. Stay tuned! Thanks,
mike

Chester's back injury update

Mike has posted a short update on his blog about Chester who is recovering well from his back injury
Chester's back is recovering well. He is still scheduled for regular visits to the doctor, but he's able to go about most of his daily routine. He had a scare the other day when he was recording a vocal; in the middle of a take, his back seized up. he thought he might need to go back to the hospital, but after some rest and doctor's advice, it relaxed again. Things are looking good. Thanks for your support! Thanks LPtimes
New Linkin Park album in 2009
11/10/08
Mike has updated his blog with news about the new Linkin Park album to be released next year, there's also a picture of Chester in his studio.
We're working on the new Linkin Park album right now. Will we have a new album out in 2009? Absolutely! And, of course, by "Absolutely," I mean, "Absolutely, as long as things go smoothly and the ideas are flowing, and we don't hit any scheduling problems or massive writers block." Jokes aside, the pic below is from my studio; Chester and I were listening to all the demos I've been writing in the past 6-12 months in busses, studios overseas, and my studio. When we're out on the road doing shows, I generally keep the music on a safe hard drive, in a format that you can't download onto your iPod (gotta be careful). I also don't like playing stuff for anyone unless I feel like I've given it a proper amount of love. That means I go for months where I write stuff and don't really play it for anyone.
This week, we went through about 35 new demos, most of which had only had my hands on them thus far. The process is a little scary; it's like saying, "here are the songs that I think should make up our next album." Luckily, nobody hates the songs (at least most of them!), and we're looking forward to getting started on this album in the coming months. I just did an insightful interview with a gentleman named Mikael Wood for a piece in an upcoming issue of Revolver magazine. Check for it in the coming months, I think it was an '09 music preview article.

Glorious Excess (Dies) postponed
11/06/08
Mike has updated his blog saying that his second installment of Glorious Excess art show has been tentatively postponed till late 2009.
Hey everyone,
It looks like my second JANM art show, Glorious Excess (Dies), which was scheduled for January, is going to be postponed. Although I would have liked to hold the show in January, unforeseen scheduling complications have made that goal an impossibility. I apologize to anyone who this change of plans may affect negatively; I wish it were that case that I could make it happen. In the January slot, Clement and I are trying to organize an alternative show. This show will be a collection of other artists' work, likely curated by me and Joe Hahn. I hope to open the Glorious Excess (Dies) show in late 2009.Thanks for your understanding, mike

Linkin Park to record fourth album in November
10/28/08
In a new interview with Billboard, Chester said Linkin Park will start recording their fourth album early November and it will be "a concept record", he explained that "If we're writing a song with a specific purpose you're allowed to step out of the realms of commercialism a little bit, you don't want to dilute that purpose with something that doesn't have anything to do with it, which is really interesting." As regard to his solo album, he has been recording with producer Howard Benson and hopes to release it next spring or summer. The album will probably be finished in the next couple of months, he describes the set as "a lot more straightforward rock, with a little bit of an electronic element to it, lots of keys and snyths and stuff like that." Chester also hopes "to do as much touring as possible" to promote the solo album. Full interview.

Linkin Park: Crime Scene Investigators
10/21/08
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's music supervisor, Jason Alexander talks to IGN about why he chose Linkin Park's 'Leave Out All The Rest' to be the theme song for upcoming CSI episode to be aired on November 6.
The episode will not only open and close with the track, but it has been named after the song, as well. While using a hit song in a television series is hardly new, the CSI episode will take things one step further by incorporating the melody from "Leave Out All The Rest" throughout the episode to underline and score the storyline, which focuses on lead character Gil Grissom (William Petersen), who's departing the hit series, and his unresolved love with Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox)."We found the melody and lyrics of the song to work so well with our story, that we underscored Grissom's emotional journey with it," says Jason Alexander, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's music supervisor. "We've been long admirers of Linkin Park and it was wonderful for us to collaborate on something special like this."

Road To Revolution CD/DVD: Update from Mike
posted by Jas, 10/19/08 | share
Mike has posted a message on his blog regarding the Road To Revolution live CD/DVD, Mike also mentioned that Chester has emailed him and that he is recovering well.
POSTED BY THAPOET: great idea Mike!! btw could you please re-consider or explain why Somewhere I Belong, Papercut, P.O.A, and Wake 2.0 has been left out on Road to Revolution. Thank You Veteran Fan \m/
M: I posted about this on the LP.com message board, but it was a small, random post, so I'm not surprised you didn't see it. CDs have limited space (74 min?), so all the audio wouldn't fit. We decided to keep the DVD and CD consistent. The rest of the stuff will be made available to you, though...you'll see!POSTED BY STELIOS (about ROAD TO REVOLUTION DVD/CD) "The rest of the stuff will be made available to you, though...you'll see!" oh mike, please tell me that you dont mean that the rest of the live songs will be on the lpu8 cd! no more live songs!
M: No, the leftover live songs won't be the new LPU CD. We heard your comments about the last LPU CD needing to have more unique material, so we're trying to do that. I think this year's LPU CD will be one of the best ever. At the very least, it'll be the most unique. Here's what it won't be: live tracks, new unreleased Linkin Park album music. (insert frantic guessing game here). Thanks LPtimes
LOATR on CSI / Suggestion box
10/19/08
Mike is asking for any suggestions to improve his blog, you can discuss and post your suggestion at the LP.com forum. Mike also said that Linkin Park's 'Leave Out All The Rest' is going to be the theme of November 6th's episode of CSI.
Really random note: our current and final single from Minutes To Midnight, "Leave Out All The Rest," is going to be the theme of November 6th's episode of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (9PM PT on CBS). The episode opens and closes with –- and is named after –- the song. Elements of the song are used throughout the episode to underline and score the building story of Gil Grissom and his unresolved love for Sara Sidle who recently left the crime lab. Never before has a television series built the score of an episode around a rock radio single.

Chester's back injury update
10/10/08
According to Ken Pooch's blog Chester hurt his back while playing with his kids, he slipped two of his discs in his back. This is much serious than I thought because injury like this requires surgery if the pain doesn't go away. Ken is Linkin Park's sound engineer, he also talked about the upcoming Linkin Park's live DVD/CD which maybe released sometime in November. Thanks to LP Blog for the tip. What is a slipped disc?.
So by now - you know that the rest of the LP tour is cancelled. What an anti-climactic way to end a tour. All of us are really bummed, especially since Chester was injured. In case you don't know. Chester (lead singer of Linkin Park) hurt his back while playing with his kid. Apparently he slipped two of his discs in his back. I imagine that this is excruciatingly painful. I feel for him.OK - here is the part where I apologize to all LP fans about not being able to tell you about the Milton Keynes DVD project. YES - it looks like that there will be a release of the Milton Keyns show. My hands were truly tied in this matter. Management swore me to secrecy. Dylan and I were working on all that stuff along with some Jay Z and NERD when we were in the studio a few weeks ago. I think that the release is slated for November, but don't hold your breath. There is always delays and shit in this stuff.
Anyway - I am here to tell you that Dylan and I have remixed the audio for that project as a 5.1 DVD release. We are super proud of it, and were honored that LP chose us to be the mixers for the project. Looking forward to the final release. Full story.
Thanks LPtimes

Linkin Park rate the VMA
09/08/08
Comments from Chester and Joe about last night's Video music awards.
Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington agreed. “Last year was probably one of the worst experiences of my professional career,” he told us. “It was terrible. This year’s show is much better.” His band’s “Shadow of the Day” picked up the award for Best Rock Video, and Joe Hahn said, “This is a cool video because it’s one that the whole band wasn’t in. It was just Chester and he carried the whole video. We’re trying to do different things so it feels good to win for that.”The format was very different, as artists performed at various venues throughout the Paramount lot, with the theater as the main stage. Linkin Park's Joe Hahn said, "The vibe inside is great. And I love DJ AM and Travis Barker as the house band."

PR Tour review and photos
09/02/08
A review of Projekt Revolution concert in East Troy, WI from Lumino magazine and lp1986soldier found more LP photos from the PR shows in Maryland Heights, MO, Mountain View, CA, Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Cincinnati, OH.
With that, it was time for Linkin Park to blow the audience away with their multi-level set and eye catching lights. Three men began the show with a “Stomp” like performance. Black-lights lit up the entire stage including the neon strips on the men’s suits. They made amazing beats with enormous drums that pumped up the audience even more. They ended their mini-performance by making sparks on one of the drums with a Grinder Power Tool. The entire audience went crazy when Chester Bennington appeared on stage. Linkin Park played a plethora of songs from all of their albums including “Shadow of the Day,” “Numb,” and “Paper Cut.”Chris Cornell snuck on the stage and made a guest appearance for the song “Crawling,” which was a great moment and one of the highlights of the evening. “In the End” was one of the last songs Linkin Park played; the entire audience sang along with Chester and enjoyed every moment of it. The night ended with a great encore that included a jam session by Mr. Hahn and his sound effects board. Projekt Revolution was a big success this year. A big thanks goes out to Linkin Park for providing this amazing experience. As Chester Bennington stated, this could not have happened if it weren’t for the, “amazing line up of bands that gives 110% each day”. Hats off to Linkin Park and the rest of Projekt Revolution 2008!. Full review

Projekt Revolution at Milton Keynes review
07/01/08
Backstage Pass has a review of Projekt Revolution concert at the Milton Keynes Bowl.
Linkin Park closed out the night with an exhausting performance of heavy rock, an advertisement as to why they have sold over forty million albums world-wide. "Somewhere I Belong" and "From the Inside" were the most recognisable of their renditions from a back-catalogue rife with hits. They may have been singing some stellar hits, however the band was showing their delirium from their hectic schedule when lead-singer Charlie Bennington yelled into the microphone as he stared across the crowd, "this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!" In the end, on a weekend in the United Kingdom featuring Glastonbury, Projekt Revolution proved not to be a mere understudy but a classy amalgamation of the genres of hip-hop and rock. Projekt Revolution at the Bowl
06/30/08
A review of PR concert at Milton Keynes on Sunday. Setlist here, bootleg vids here. According to this blog, it seems like the Milton Keynes show is being shot for a DVD.
Controversial rapper is a sunny success. US rap artist Jay-Z wows a 45,000-strong crowd on a sunny Sunday. After going down a storm at Glastonbury on Saturday night Jay-Z found mixing rap and rock a winning formula again at the MK Bowl yesterday. He joined headline band Linkin Park under the Projekt Revolution banner bringing rock and dance fans together for the first time. See the Tuesday Citizen for Sammy Jones' review and pictures.------------
Linkin Park are the biggest-selling band of this century. That is a fact. No other artist has sold more records than the Californian nu-metal band. This is why, just like other superstars like Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and Slayer, they're able to host their own global tour. It's time for Linkin Park take to the throne. Projekt Revolution is their baby. As early as 2002 they felt they were established enough to form a money-spinning, high profile arena tour across the US. In 2008, they had enough worldwide status to bring the tour to Europe. This baby's not just eating solids now – it's devouring them.
Jumping straight in with 'One Step Closer' was a bold move but they knew that they had more than enough material to fill their 90-minute headline slot, and they did. Chester Bennington was on firey form while Mike Shinoda did his best to continue the hip hop-based shenanigans. However, he did look far more comfortable when reciting more familiar lyrics or when sitting behind his piano. Full review

Mike on hip-hop and Projekt Revolution
06/24/08
Skopemag has a short comment from Mike regarding the upcoming Projekt Revolution.
Linkin Park will head out on the Projekt Revolution tour again this summer. When the trek originated it had more of a hip-hop presence. We asked Parker Mike Shinoda if the genre still has a place on the summer tour. "I really enjoy, hip hop groups or hip hop leaning groups that really push the envelope, groups like Lupe Fiasco, Gnarls Barkley, Kanye [West], these folks are out on the road doing their own thing and we actually, I think if there had been a place for those guys on the tour, maybe that would have worked out. Well, at the last minute they were able to find a place for Busta Rhymes. Linkin Park teamed up with Busta for his track, "We Made It." It will appear on Busta's new disc, Blessed. The Projekt Revolution tour gets underway in Boston on July 16th.

Linkin Park in Dublin review and photos
06/23/08
A Flickr user has posted his meet and greet photos of LP in Dublin, Ireland, some bootleg vids at YouTube, setlist here. Here's a review from Independent.
"It's good to be back here," grunts frontman Chester Bennington, in tones usually associated with Bond villains. However, the real star is Shinoda, whose block-rocking rapping slickly counterpoints Bennington's grunge tribute act bellow. Musically, Linkin Park are far more sophisticated than a group essentially, pitched at teenagers in black t-shirts need be. Lead guitarist Bradford Delson romps through the a-z of proggy excess while bassist David Farrell's space-rock jams recall avant-garde guitar abusers such as Mogwai. If grown men must vent their adolescent pain in public, then long may (relative) sophisticates such as Linkin Park lead the charge. Full review. Thanks LPtimes

We Made It on Billboard chart and review
06/23/08
A review of 'We Made It' single from Manchester Evening News, the single debuts at #14 on the Billboard UK singles chart.
Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes returns with We Made It featuring multi-platinum selling band Linkin Park. Taken from his new eighth studio album Blessed (out in the summer) and beginning with piano, the distinct, fast-rapping style of Rhymes crashes in over a heavy beat. The catchy chorus ('together we made it…') is sung by Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and his familiar whiny vocals suit the track. LP's Mike Shinoda also produced the track, the guitars and the pop chorus add to the mix. This is an good example of a hip hop/rock crossover and We Made It works a lot better then most of Linkin Park's supposed style of 'rock' .Thanks LPtimes

Linkin Park tell how Busta Rhymes invited himself along for PR 2008
06/20/08
Linkin Park, Busta Rhymes and Chris Cornell talk about the upcoming Projekt Revolution Tour. I haven't been able to find the full press conference, so we're gonna see snippets here and there.
"We just pick groups that we think would be a good match together," Linkin Park MC Mike Shinoda said of the tour, which will hit 24 cities, kicking off July 16 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and wrapping up August 24 in The Woodlands, Texas. "We want to create a bill that we think we'd enjoy seeing this summer." After collaborating with Linkin Park on "We Made It," the first single off his eighth album, Blessed, Busta Rhymes was determined to join them on tour. "Apparently, Busta was telling people, 'You don't understand, I'm going to be on that tour; you need to get me on that tour,' " Shinoda recalled. "I was saying to our touring committee ... with the single, it would be really great to do at least some shows with Busta.""For some reason, there's an interest in this tour, there's an interest in what it means, and I think that it's translating in other places," Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington said. "We've never showed up to the U.K. and sold 50,000 tickets, but when we say we're doing Projekt Revolution and we have these different bands, all of a sudden it's, like, awesome." Even after five years of putting this tour together, Linkin Park are excited to hit the road again. "When all the musicians on a tour feel like this is really an opportunity, and we're probably not going to be able to do this again, you're living in that moment, and you're being present with the fact that this is a really special thing we get to do," Bennington said. "It's just like I'm living out a fantasy."

Reading My Eyes lyrics
06/16/08
Mike has posted the real lyrics to 'Reading My Eyes' and a little background about the song that was on the Xero demo.
i may have posted this before somewhere, but i thought since we're playing "reading my eyes" a bit on stage, i'd give you a little background. i think we wrote the song back in '97 or '98. it was an original demo from when the band was called XERO, which means it was written (and originally performed) by me and my friend mark. this was one of the songs on the demo we would send out to record companies to try and get signed, and it was on some of the demos we passed out to friends and new fans (the blue cassette with the baby on the cover).we decided to put it in the show because a lot of the hardcore fans wanted to hear us play it–the only time we played it with chester before this tour was in tokyo, 2006. looking back at the lyrics, it's crazy; some of it's really dated, some of it's still dope, and some of it makes virtually no sense whatsoever. but i've seen some really bad "interpretations" of the lyrics on so-called "lyric websites" that are WAY OFF…so i figured i'd give you the real lyrics. here you go

In an exclusive interview for next week's Kerrang! magazine Bennington said: "I'm friends with all the guys in Velvet Revolver and have played with all of them before. I'm friends with Scott [Weiland] too. I think the rumour that I was going to join Velvet Revolver started because Slash asked me if I'd come play a show with them in Vegas right around the time that Scott left the band. Timing-wise, it didn't work out for me, though. Maybe people assumed that invitation meant I was joining the band.""It would be very uncomfortable for me to join that band because I'm friends with all of them, including Scott," Bennington continues. "If I was even going to do just one show, or record just one song with them, I'd have to know it was okay with my band, all those guys and Scott too. That said, if Bennington didn't have prior commitments or wasn't friends with all parties, he'd jump at the chance: "If I wasn't in Linkin Park anymore and I didn't know Scott, though, I'd say yes," he says. "Who wouldn't? The music is great and it would be a really cool opportunity."

Interview:Mike Shinoda
06/13/08
Herald Sun has an interview with Michael Buble where Mike is mentioned.
You've just worked with Reseda Beach, the new jazz/hip hop act produced by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda. Is that part of expanding your musical horizons?
Totally. It's cool. I'm not "the Crooner Boy''. Not that I'm trying to prove something, but I'm not just a man in a suit singing standards. That song (Damn) is the root of the music I do. It's jazz. It's fun.

Linkin Park leads rock 'n' jock revolution
06/12/08
Major League Baseball Properties' vice president of consumer products, Steve Armus talks about sponsoring the Projekt Revolution tour and what you can expect at the show this summer.
Linkin Park is a major player in the world of rock music and in the world of Major League Baseball. And if you don't understand how that's possible, you've never seen a show on the Projekt Revolution tour. Once again, MLB is co-sponsoring the annual All-Star road show, and this year it features Linkin Park, Chris Cornell, The Bravery, Ashes Divide and others. The first show of the tour is July 16 in Boston, and throughout the nationwide tour there will be evidence of baseball everywhere you look. But Projekt Revolution is only one part of MLB's sixth "Access to the Show" program that hits rock festivals all summer long.A walk around the grounds of Projekt Revolution will lead music-loving baseball fans -- and baseball-loving music fans -- to Revolution Village, where MLB has the 18-wheeler set up with video games, computers set to MLB.com and TVs with live games via satellite feed. It turns out that Linkin Park is a natural fit for baseball, too. It's Projekt Revolution's third year with Linkin Park, and according to Armus, the band has a great relationship with MLB. "They're clearly a group of guys who understand and appreciate what we do, and likewise for us, we have a nice partnership developed over time to really maximize the event for us," Armus says.
"We're a different type of sponsor. We're a corporate entity that's not overtly corporate. We're not selling razor blades or colas or things that don't have a personality. We're selling culture, the relevance of our sport, and it's something that's run deep throughout this culture for 120-something years. The band responds really well to that." To that end, Linkin Park hosts meet-and-greets with fans by the batting cages, where the band members have enjoyed taking their hacks. And they're not the only rock stars you might find in the cages this summer.
Overall, Armus says, Projekt Revolution and the rest of the festivals are a perfect way to get America's oldest pastime, baseball, together with another one of America's favorite pastimes, rock music. "It's a home run," Armus says. "It's two things people love and it hits our demographic square in the middle." -- Full article

Linkin Park leads the Revolution to Irvine
06/12/08
A reporter from OC Register wants fans to go see Linkin Park's upcoming concerts.
If you're a Linkin Park fan and haven't yet seen the band live, you may be running out of time. Really though, you've had plenty of chances to get out there with the band headlining gigs at Irvine's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Devore's Hyundai Pavilion and Staples Center in Los Angeles in a little over a year. So – and I plead with you – go check out these established rockers before they run back into hibernation when Projekt Revolution 2008 comes to Verizon on Aug. 10. This year's lineup features L.P. plus Chris Cornell, the Bravery, Busta Rhymes, Ashes Divide (Billy Howerdel, ex-A Perfect Circle), Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor For Sleep and Street Drum Corps. Sweet! Tickets are $24.75-$79.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. Thanks LPtimes

Ashes Divide surprised to tour with LP
06/11/08
Billy Howerdel from Ashes Divide is talks about the upcoming Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park.
"Yeah, I was surprised . I think it was put together by our managers, who are mutual friends. An advanced copy of the record got into the Linkin Park guys hands and they put us on. It was real nice I didn't even have a live band together yet and I got on the tour. So, that was it really cool of those guys to believe in this enough to go site unseen and put us on the tour not really knowing what it was going to be like. So that was really cool of the Linkin Park guys."Thanks LPtimes

06/10/08
Mike has updated his blog with info on the prints and merchandise for his art show, Glorious Excess (Born). He also explained why LP is not playing 'No Roads Left' live, yet.
PS, i know about the noroadsleft site. although i doubt we can make it a single, i hope to someday play the song live. it’s really just a matter of my voice being up to it: that song takes a ton out of me, and if my voice isn’t 100% going into it, i can’t make it through properly. plus, it might kill my voice for the songs that follow it…anyway, we’ll see what happens. thanks for the support! Thanks LPtimes

LOATR is the last single
06/05/08
Mike has posted a message on the LPMB and LPU board saying that 'Leave Out All The Rest' will be the last single from Minutes To Midnight.
hey guys,i'm posting this in the LPU and LPMB to let you know that LOATR is going to be our last single off of minutes to midnight. it's been a great run on this album. when we started, we had been away for a while...but debuted with one of the biggest singles of our career, and we're excited to finish the cycle and year with a really amazing video and some of our biggest tours.
i'm writing to encourage all of you to help us promote LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST--it's rare that an album spawns five singles, but MTM has done it, and we need your help in taking this last song as far as it can go.
please help us celebrate this great journey by spreading the word, emailing and calling your radio and video stations. tell your friends and spread the word...see you soon!
thanks,

Linkin Park adds Busta Rhymes to 2008 Summer Tour
06/03/08
Official press release regarding Busta Rhymes addition to the US leg of the upcoming Projekt Revolution tour. And Billboard has an interview with Busta.
"We started Projekt Revolution six years ago and have been lucky to have toured with some great bands," says Linkin Park co-frontman Chester Bennington. "This year, however, might just be the best lineup yet. We're looking forward to taking this show on the road and bringing great music to the masses."Thanks LPtimes
Chris Cornell looks to once-in-a-lifetime collaboration on PR
06/03/08
We caught up with Chris Cornell to get his thoughts on discussing some songs to sing with Chester Bennington and if he's looking forward to sitting in with Linkin Park this Summer while on the road. "Absolutely, either surprise or on purpose. Yeah, Chester and I discussed picking some songs and actually going up. Yeah, I'd be into that anytime anybody wants to do something with me or vice versa performing. I think that's what makes these types of tours work better. That's when you really take advantage of it is when you got a lot of bands together breaking the ice and nothing breaks the ice better than when you're onstage together in front of 20,000 people. It doesn't get any more intense than that. Once you've gone through that with someone you pretty much gonna be pals."Thanks LPtimes
Video Download: Interview with Mike on Artisan News
06/03/08
Artisan News has a clip of Mike talking about paying service fees for tickets to the PR tour and MFR contribution from the tour, download from LT here
"We offered to.. Because money is tight for a lot of people, we said through our fanclub, we'd pick up the service fee on their tickets as a gesture of gratitude. That's something that we did in the beginning of the ticket sales on this tour. As far as donating money to Music For Relief, once again we're donating a dollar from each ticket. Music For Relief has been involved in a number of different things. When we started it was... We always geared the organization to providing relief to victims of natural disasters. Right now there's a lot of that going on. There's a lot of people who are in a lot of pain, and we want to try and help out to the best of our abilities. Also we've got some different ideas and some differing opportunities to donate to different environmental groups; planting trees, other simple ways, we just run our bus on biodiesel, and we try and donate the food that's left over from catering, just things not to be so wasteful and things to help out."Thanks LPtimes

Video Download: Interview with Chester on Artisan News
06/02/08
Artisan News has a new interview with Chester where he talks about forming and finding the right bands for Projekt Revolution line-up and Busta Rhymes' addition to the US leg of the tour, download here
"When you put together a list of 150 bands or whatever, finding the ones who are into the idea, finding the ones who will take the right amount of money, finding the ones that are ok with their position on the bill, finding the ones that are available that haven't already made commitments or not in the studio, that's the most time consuming part and that's really difficult.""There are certain aspects at work that are easy and there are other aspects that aren't. I think when it came to Chris it was very easy. We had toured with Chris in the fall of last year and we talked at the end of that and said 'We should do this again, it was too short.' My response was 'As soon as we find what that is we'll do it.' And this was it. So that was very simple. When it came to Atreyu, it was very simple. We asked and they said 'Yes!' It was like 'OK!'
"And then with the addition of Busta it feels like now we truly have accomplished what Projekt Rev was started out to be. We want to bring all these types of genres together and we love Hip Hop and that was the one element that was missing from this year's Projekt Rev. I think that Busta will not only fill that spot with grace and do a really good job performing live. I think that everyone will be engaged because he's such a great personality and his music is so unique and so good."

Busta Rhymes thankful for Linkin Park collab
06/02/08
Busta Rhymes talks about his collaboration with LP for the 'We Made It' single.
Busta Rhymes talked about his appreciation of Linkin Park and how the song meaning changed during production and recording of the track. "First of all I'm a fan of what they do. Second of all the song and what it represents, like, a whole new meaning of the song came about as a result of just the story and the process and the story of the whole development of the coming together." The song is titled "We Made It," and Busta talked about hoping that the collaboration would happen. "So when it happened for me, because I wanted it so bad and I was so close to have it and couldn't have it, a couple of prayers was all I had to hold on to because at the end of the day it was so out of my control at that point that I didn't have anything else to put my faith in except the most high. So at the end of the day when I got the word that it went down I called my mom first."Thanks LPtimes

Review of Busta Rhymes "Blessed"
05/27/08
Rap-up has a review of Busta Rhymes upcoming album, "Blessed" and has this to say about the 'We Made It' single featuring Linkin Park.
This song is very different from Busta’s usual sound. It has more of a rap/rock appeal. The accompaniment of Linkin Park adds a powerful guitar and keyboard element. The song talks about overcoming obstacles and emerging victorious. Linkin Park’s lead singer, Chester Bennington, sings the chorus: “Together we made it, even though we had our backs up against the wall.” This song drives home the theme of the album, which is probably the reason why it was chosen to be the lead single.

He said, "We're always collecting money and we're always trying to find the best places to go, and as long as the organizations that we feel are gonna be providing the best kind of relief are there working, then that's where we're gonna go."

Artisan News has posted another red carpet interview with Chester at the MusiCares benefit and the previous clips have been replaced with an unedited version which includes a short clip of Camp Freddy's performance, download here (full bootleg clip of 'Eighteen' here and here).
We also caught up with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park to get his thoughts on how important MAP is to the musical community. "I think it's important because there's a lot of musicians out there who are struggling with addiction and it's really nice to know that there's a group of musicians in this organization within the music industry that can actually help you out. And so it's helped a lot of people out and it's really important."Thanks LPtimes

Artisan News caught up with Chester at the MusiCares benefit and he talked about Dead By Sunrise. Download here. Speaking of DBS a couple of video clips of their performance at the Club Tattoo anniversary celebration are up at YouTube.
"This will be the first time we've performed. We're going to do a few songs, and we're really excited about it. Some of the guys in my band are also performing in a band called Julien-K right before they play with Dead By Sunrise. They are formally of Orgy." He talked about how the Dead By Sunrise is going. "They're really good guys. It's a lot of fun. We try to work around Linkin Park's schedule and Julien-K's schedule, so that's kind of interesting. It works out really well and the music is good." Bennington added that the show is a salute to those who have supported Club Tattoo in the Phoenix area. "You know we weren't sure how it was going to work out when we opened the doors thirteen years ago. It has just grown slowly and steadily for the last thirteen years, and this is one of the ways to give back to our clients who have really supported us by throwing a really good party."Thanks LPtimes

New LP album update
05/12/08
Linkin Park has already begun writing for their next album, Chester said the band does not plan to release the album this year, but they are “way ahead of the game.”
Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington debuted his new band, Death by Sunrise, during an anniversary party for his tattoo parlor chain, Club Tattoo, at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona, on Saturday. “I wouldn’t call it a side project,” Bennington said before the show. “We’re a full, ready-to-go band and so this is something we take very seriously.” The band, which includes Bennington and members of the group Julien-K (which contains several members of Orgy), is a traditional rock outfit that is more straight-ahead and melodic than Linkin Park.Speaking of his other band, Bennington revealed that Linkin Park has already begun writing the follow-up to Minutes to Midnight. He explained the band had “the itch” to start writing again and headed toward the studio. “We’re way ahead of the game,” Bennington said. “We’re not planning on releasing a record this year. We don’t know when it’s going to come out. But we just started working on stuff in the studio. I never want to get in the way of what Linkin Park is. That’s my baby. That’s my band. Those are my best friends. The last thing I want to do is compromise what we’re doing.” Bennington also said he hopes to have a Dead by Sunrise album out by 2009, barring other commitments to other bands. “I want to make sure the record gets the chance to do what it can do.”

Rockers celebrate staying clean
05/12/08
Chester talked about the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert.
A host of other rockers also stepped out at the fundraiser to show their support, including Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park front man explained how the charity was personally important to him: "It's pretty close to home, I'm a recovering alcoholic myself. MusiCares is important to me because its different being sober and being in the spotlight and being a successful rock musician." Chester said the evening's honorees were evidence that a rock lifestyle doesn't have to include drugs and alcohol: "I think it's difficult but it's definitely possible. You see guys like Alice Cooper, you see guys like Slash doing it, and that's good proof that it can be done."
Club Tattoo celebrates 13 years with Bennington, Julien-K
05/11/08
A short interview with Chester about Club Tattoo's anniversary celebration.
For a Tempe tattoo studio co-founded by the dude who sings for multi-platinum rap-rock heroes Linkin Park, Club Tattoo's 13th Anniversary Party May 10 at the Marquee Theatre sure is heavy on the electronica, with live performances by Rabbit in the Moon and Julien-K. What gives? As Chester Bennington, who formed the company with friend Sean Dowdell and was heavily involved in planning and producing this event, explains it, last year felt a little too much like a concert. This year, he says, they were going for more of a party vibe without losing the live performance aspect. And by having "a good, live, theatrical performance like Rabbit in the Moon can offer," Bennington explains, "we can really celebrate with our clients."It's easier to understand Julien-K's place on the lineup, even if they have a largely electronic sound. Bennington is a member and will be performing a song with them at the event. Bennington and Julien-K members also make up the band Dead by Sunrise, so expect to hear their tunes as well. As to what they have to celebrate this year, Club Tattoo recently launched one of the fastest growing men's premium clothing lines, Ve'cel. They also teamed up with Etnies in 2007 on a line of custom tattoo-design shoes created by Club Tattoo artists. 2009 will see the Club Tattoo brand expand further when a Club Tattoo studio opens on the Las Vegas Strip in the new Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Camp Freddy Review
05/10/08
Chester and Camp Freddy played at The Roxy in Hollywood last night, here's a review, I'll collect all the photos and post them later. See bootleg videos here (Paradise City) and here (Highway To Hell). Setlist here. Update: More clips here. Billy Morrison has his review of the Roxy show on his blog.
The three-song salvo that followed "It's So Easy" proved to be the night's most explosive. Linkin Park's Chester Bennington took the mic for Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times." His signature wail brought the song into the 21st century, bridging the gap between now and then. Slash and Navarro bowed at the altar of Jimmy Page, playing each line with reverence. A raw and vibrant "Highway to Hell" followed, as Chester did his most faithful Bon Scott impression and Sorum bashed away at the timeless rhythm. Thanks LPtimesOf course, our two favorite guitarists kept axeing out, not missing a beat or chance to blaze a riff. After the AC/DC homage, Chester asked, "You want to hear some f***ing Guns N' Roses?" The crowd erupted, and the band launched into "Paradise City." The audience clapped in unison as Slash ripped through the opening with the same fire he had in the '80s. At one point, Chester posed a question that resonated. "Do you have any idea what you're witnessing on this f***ing stage tonight?" Everyone in attendance certainly did, and that's why they walked away all smiles. Whether they had passes or not, everyone got a little closer to the Strip's legend last night. Full review

Behind the scenes of Busta/LP music video
04/16/08
MTV has a report and photos from the set of 'We Made It' music video. Mike has also posted some of his photos on his blog.
MTV News producer Yasmine Richard spent yesterday afternoon on the set of Busta Rhymes’ video for “We Made It,” featuring the boys of Linkin Park. She wrote in from the abandoned warehouse in downtown LA: So we spent the first hour waiting and watching director Chris Robinson’s crew set up Mike Shinoda’s piano solo shot. And when Mr. Shinoda rolled up, he told us he had some fond memories: Linkin Park shot the cover of their second album, the massive Meteora, right on that spot. And, you know how it goes: 2 1/2 hours later we’re still waiting — when Bussa Bus, Mike, and Chester start shooting their performance. I’ve got to say, it’s an unusual-looking group to see together. Seriously. But somehow, when Chris paired the visuals with the vibe of the song, it just felt right. Whatever. You’ll have to wait like everybody else until this thing premieres…Busta’s newly re-titled album, Blessed, is due this summer

Mike talks 'We Made It'
04/16/08
Mike has updated his blog with a little bit more info about Busta Rhymes' new single and video which feature Linkin Park.
we are pleased to announce a new song, about to hit the streets…a new collaboration we did with the incomparable busta rhymes. chester, busta, and i just shot the video with director chris robinson. the song is called “we made it” and will be featured on busta’s new album “blessed.” chester sings on the hook (i did some harmonies) and i do the second verse. i did some production work on it, and brad laid down some guitar at the end.as many of you may realize, this is the first time LP has been “featured” on a new song by any artist. we have done individual cameos in the past (and did a “mash-up” of existing songs with a certain mr. s-dot-carter) but this is the first time you have seen “featuring linkin park” on any all-new song. for my part, the thing that drew me in was the musicality of the track and the sincerity of busta’s performance. it’s a song about overcoming adversity and celebrating the difficult obstacles that we overcome. i loved writing to it, and hope you all enjoy the song, which should be out soon.
also, keep an eye on our linkinparktv youtube channel for video footage and a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot and creation of the song. to round out the experience, busta told me that he’s setting up a charity foundation (tentatively) called the “we made it foundation” that will be rewarding young students for quarterly excellence in academics and discipline—at home and at school. more to come. and just for fun…one of my favorite busta songs from a few years back…WOO-HAAAAA

The song is called 'We Made It', it will be directed by Chris Robinson and shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15. The video will be released in May while the album, "Blessed" is set to be released on June 17.
Not only is multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park featured on the first single from acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes' new album, but the band 's co-lead vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda will also appear in the song's performance video. "We Made It," directed by Chris Robinson, will be shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15. The intriguing culture-mashing collaboration reflects the theme of "We Made It." Says Rhymes of the song: "It ain't just about the 'hood, it ain't just about the suburbs, it's about everybody. This is one of those songs that can't be described better than touching the souls of the common people." "We Made It," produced by Cool and Dre, with additional production by Mike Shinoda, and its video will be released in May, prior to the debut of Rhymes' eighth studio album, Blessed (Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope), on June 17.Thanks LPtimes

Linkin Park's 'Projekt Revolution' facing stiff competition this summer
04/13/08
Another comment from Mike about Projekt Revolution from the teleconference.
The Pulse of Radio reports: Linkin Park announced details last week for the fifth edition of the Projekt Revolution tour, which will get underway on July 16 in Boston. The festival-type trek joins an already crowded summer schedule that features the Warped Tour, the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, most likely some version of Ozzfest, plus stand-alone festivals such as Lollapalooza, Coachella, Rock on the Range and several brand new events. But Linin Park singer Mike Shinoda said in a teleconference with reporters that he wasn't worried about the increased competition. "In any situation where, you know, these tours cross paths, that's a concern on that end, but I mean, if you're a fan of the bands that are playing, you're gonna go to the show, that's how I look at it," he said. "I mean, for me, when I was growing up, going to shows like, you know, Lollapalooza or just going to different tours that bands were playing in town, it wouldn't matter if they were playing days apart. If I liked the band and I could afford the tickets, then I would do that."

The Seed review
04/13/08
Short review of The Seed from Asian Week.
San Francisco-native actor Will Yun Lee goes AWOL as Sung in The Seed, the new movie by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn, which chronicles Sung’s descent into madness as a homeless war veteran suffering shell shock and possibly sun stroke. Lee’s pretty convincing as a paranoid loner who basically goes nuts — maybe he was just channeling some of that madness from news that NBC hated his show Bionic Woman and is putting it out of its misery for good. In the meantime, support The Seed on iTunes, and help artists pay the rent!

Shinoda: Projekt Revolution not done with rap
04/09/08
Mike talks about this summers Projekt Revolution in a teleconference held today, Chris Cornell was also on the call. He also talks to Artisan News about how the band decides the Projekt Revolution line-up in their previous interview.
Each of the guys in the band are involved in a different category of our existence. Each guy is a chairperson for different things. One of my things is art, one of my things is in the studio. Dave works a lot with sponsorships, and Chester works a lot with the shows and the tours, and Rob Bourdon is on that committee as well. So the two of those guys headed it off, and when they got to the point with a summer tour, for example Projekt Revolution, they put together all the tour, the ideas, and when they got to the point where it was possible, where they were talking to bands that were available and had open schedules and etcetera, then they presented it to the whole band."

According to The Pulse of Radio, Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington and his partners have announced the 13th anniversary celebration for their Club Tattoo shops, scheduled for May 10 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday (April 11). The evening will feature live performances from electronic outfit Rabbit In The Moon, Projekt Revolution alumni Julien-K and Bennington himself, along with DJ sets from Jeremy Dawson of Shiny Toy Guns and others. Bennington said in a statement, "Being able to celebrate our 13th year with Club Tattoo is amazing. These parties have always been special to us and we've always enjoyed being able to have great artists and fans come out to help us celebrate."Bennington and his partners have also launched a men's clothing line called Ve'cel which is sold through all the Club Tattoo outlets. Bennington told The Pulse of Radio that the line has gotten off to a solid start. "It's doing very well," he said. "We're a new company, we're very small and we're doing things kind of grassroots. We don't just want to overhype it and throw it out in everybody's face. We want people to actually buy it because they like it. And with Club Tattoo, we're opening a store in Vegas and Ve'cel will be our premiere line there."

Linkin Park Snags Cornell, Bravery For Projekt Revolution
04/03/08
Linkin Park, Chris Cornell, the Bravery, and Ashes Divide (featuring A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel) will perform on the main stage of the 2008 Projekt Revolution tour, set to begin July 16 at the Tweeter Center outside Boston.
The fifth installation of the Linkin Park-reared trek is scheduled to visit 24 U.S. cities this summer and wrap Aug. 24 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston. Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor for Sleep and the Street Drum Corps will appear on the smaller Revolution Stage.
For a limited time beginning tomorrow (April 4), Linkin Park and tour producer Live Nation say they will absorb service fees for tickets purchased through the band's fan club, lpunderground.com, or livenation.com.
"As a thank you to our fan club, we're picking up part of the tab for their tickets to this summer's Projekt Revolution," Linking Park co-frontman Mike Shinoda said. "We'll be paying the service charge on fan club pre-sale tickets, which will save each fan roughly $8-$11. Our fan club has been incredibly loyal and supportive, and we hope this gesture lets them know how much we appreciate them."
Tickets for select dates go on sale to the general public beginning April 11 via linkinpark.com and livenation.com. Ticket prices for the trek have not yet been released, but Linkin Park will donate $1 from each ducat to Music for Relief, which supports disaster relief efforts and the reduction of global warming.

Places / LA’s Suru store
04/03/08
From lostateminor.com:
What’s silver, shiny and has a revolving shirt rack like at the cleaners? Suru is a store on Melrose in Los Angeles started by Joe Hahn of Linkin Park catering to the most discriminating t-shirt fan and art collector. I had the opportunity to stop by there on my drive back to San Francisco on Saturday in support of Mike Boo and Dstyles, who played music for Dez Einswell’s opening there this weekend. I rarely say this, but Suru is the answer. If you’re in LA and want a nice shirt designed by one of my favorite artists like Aya Kato, a painting by Dez Einzwell, or a custom toy made in Joe Hahn’s honor, stop by check their range of products out. It was probably the first time I enjoyed myself at an art show in the city of Lost Angels. Not only that, but all the people there were some of the most friendly I’ve met down that way.

LP didnt won an award. Dez Einswell - Wall Murals @ SURU Dez Einswell hit the walls -- inside 'n out -- @ SURU yesterday in prep for his Destination Unknown solo opening tonight -- Saturday, March 29th 2008 (7-11 PM). Wielding a black paint pen, Dez made quick work of the inside of SURU -- back wall first and then side wall. With quick and smooth lines and curves, Dez brought his Doodle Barn to the Melrose boutique. Part of the lure of Dez's work are his line-heavy scenes which challenge the viewer to pick out the individual characters. Very cool to see the mesh of black lines quickly turn from abstract shapes into a finished piece. The outer wall went slightly slower with the added challenge of working on a ladder waaaay up. Towards the end, the paint pen was in full drip mode adding to the look. The show looks good with several sweet paintings as well as a handful of prints featuring spot hand-painted elements. Be sure to come out tonight to check out the art, the exclusive SURU black n' blue Whyno vinyl, show exclusive tees and home decor (yup -- Doodle Barn Pillows and Glassware). Click through for a mega gallery -- enjoy! Here is a little interview with Dez Einswell Y: You've got an art show called "Destination Unknown" at SURU which opens in a few days on March 29th. Besides art, will we see any new toys or maybe a customary collaboration item with SURU? D: "Destination Unknown" will consist of new paintings, prints and home decor. I have a new series of totem pieces that have never been shown and will be featured for the first time at the show. I'll also have some custom vinyl toys on deck. We'll be releasing a Black and Blue Whyno Colorway Vinyl Toy, that's exclusive to SURU and limited to 25 pieces. The clip depicts a day in the life of Linkin Park — that is, if they all lived in a futuristic flight vessel, floating somewhere in outer space. "Joe wasn't even going to write a treatment for this song," MC Mike Shinoda told MTV News on the set. "We'd [received] a number of treatments, and we were kind of bummed out, because we weren't connecting to any of them. And then, out of nowhere, we get a treatment from Joe in an e-mail, and we just loved it. It was random, out of nowhere, and it fit the song perfectly. I really like this video, because it's different from everything else he's done with us before. It's this sci-fi thing, which is fun. We've never really done that, and when I walked onto the set, I thought it looked like 'Battlestar Galactica.' " In the video — which features no performance footage — the band lives in a rundown, artificial habitat that's making its way across the galaxy. At first, the boys are seen passing the time performing mundane tasks, but then gravity is lost onboard the vessel, sending the guys floating about. "We're explorers in space, just like when we go on tour," said Hahn. "We're leaving our home life behind, and I guess it kind of ties into 'Leave Out All the Rest,' in that we have to leave things behind in order to do something better." I heart Park
03/17/08
A review of LP's concert at the Staples Center from LA Loyolan.
Linkin Park, alternative favorites, and Los Angeles natives, pumped up the jams to a sold out crowd last week at Staples Center. Their sound is really like nothing else out there right now, and essentially stems from the super-bizarre "rap-rock" genre that blossomed some ten years ago. While most critics dismissed the genre as rubbish, Linkin Park has found some way to stay afloat, while other bands like Limp Bizkit have perished. After what seemed like an eternity, headliners Linkin Park took to the stage. The gaps in the crowd that were vacated for the first two openers were now filled, and a mighty roar erupted in the giant arena. Theatrics were in full-effect as various enormous LED displays and a multi-layer stage were utilized by lead singer Chester Bennington and the rest of the band. Concert-goers seemed to be getting their $60-plus ticket's worth of Linkin Park as the band played for well over an hour busting out a solid mix of trademark intensity and hip-hop infused rap from singer-pianist-guitarist Mike Shinoda. The band even indulged in about half an hour of acoustic only tracks for all the softies/ladies out there. The resulting set was, to say the least, phenomenal and reminded me how truly talented and unique this band is.
It would be hard to imagine any alternative rock fans walking out of Staples Center without a big smile on their face that brisk Tuesday night. Whether your thing is alt-emo or alt-rap/rock, it was all brought together, courtesy of your boys, Linkin Park.
Linkin Park offering free college concert in latest contest
03/17/08
Chester talks about the LP Remix2Win concert contest.
The contest is the latest example of how Linkin Park reaches out to its fans. Frontman Chester Bennington told The Pulse of Radio that the band has a vast appreciation for its audience. "I think we have the best fans in the world, and we just totally appreciate everything they do for us, in whatever way, you know, our fan club, our street teams, just kids out there just buying records or coming to the shows or whatever," he said. "It's awesome, and everything we do, they support us one hundred percent and we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. So we just totally, we love 'em and try to do as much as we can for 'em."

The Seed synopsis
03/16/08
WesleyLPBR sent this synopsis of "The Seed"
SUNG (Will Yun Lee) is a homeless veteran losing his mind on the banks of the L.A. River. Pursued by unseen forces, fighting unseen foes, Sung is ostensibly 'just another lunatic.' But as his invisible war continues, under bridges and in tunnels, we are taken deeper and deeper into Sung's nightmare mind. Into a nightmare of conspiracy, cloaking and the government's unseen war. Sung struggles to fight through what is visible to him, yet invisible to the world around him. Ordinarily, someone like this is perceived as 'crazy'. Beyond what we can see, beyond what we don't want to, lies...THE SEEDDirector: Joe Hahn

Interviewing Chester
03/14/08
Journalist, Bear Frazer talks about his most enjoyable experience talking to artists.
What has been your most enjoyable experience interacting with an artist? What has been your worst?
I’ve been really fortunate to have so many enjoyable interviews, but ones that stick out the most would have to be talking to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, Chingo Bling and Cassie Ford of the Vincent Black Shadow. Whenever you first start pursing journalism and interview artists, I think most folks have to be a bit nervous. Fortunately by the time I interviewed these three, I had two years of interviewing artists under my belt and was able to treat these more as conversations. With these three artists in particular, they were witty, funny and we joked around during half the interview. I was always a huge fan of Linkin Park even before they release Hyrbid Theory, so talk to Chester was awesome. He was particularly upset the label didn’t send me an advance of their latest album Minutes To Midnight. With Chingo Bling, it was like talking to a friend in high school and in regards to Cassie Ford … let’s just say I could definitely fall for a girl like her. The worst experience, however, could very well be Kevin Federline. He hung up on me within two minutes. What a rude little cracker. E-40 was also a bit short on the phone too, but I’ll let that slide. He was probably concentrating more on ghost ridin’ some whip.

Want your plant to grow? play Linkin Park's music to them.
They grew three tomato plants in identical conditions except for one thing: one plant “listened” to classical (Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart) music, one plant had ears for Linkin Park (a rock group, for those of you who don't know), and one plant had no music. They fully expected the plant with classical music to grow taller, but they found it was the Linkin Park plant that won the growth contest. Full story
